Program Goal

The goal of the project is to strengthen the professional competencies, teaching practices, and motivation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) educators in Kazakhstan. Through targeted activities and comprehensive professional development, the project equips TVET teachers with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to perform their roles effectively, ensuring high-quality teaching and improved student learning outcomes.

By addressing the professional needs and aspirations of TVET educators, the project aims to foster a supportive, safe, and empowering environment that promotes the growth, well-being, and success of educators across Kazakhstan’s TVET sector.

Course Structure and Curriculum

Emotional Intelligence and Burnout Prevention: Building Resilient TVET Educators in Kazakhstan

Duration: 2 months

Format: Online

Languages: Kazakh and Russian

Total workload: 80 academic hours

Accreditation: The program is accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and awards an officially recognized professional development certificate.

The program consists of two learning tracks.

Track 1 — Online Learning

Participants complete ten online modules:

  1. Emotional Intelligence: The Foundation of Effective Teaching
  2. Professional Burnout: Recognizing and Preventing It
  3. Managing Your Personal Resources
  4. Healthy Personal Boundaries
  5. Empathy and Student Support
  6. Conflict and Challenging Behaviors: Preventing Emotional Exhaustion
  7. Collegial Support and Team Resilience
  8. Effective Communication and Constructive Feedback
  9. Teaching Through Emotional Intelligence
  10. The Teacher as a Mentor and Change Agent

Track 2 — Practicum

The practicum provides participants with an opportunity to apply and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired throughout the program by designing and delivering professional development workshops for colleagues within their own TVET institutions.

Each participant who successfully completes the training program delivers two full-length workshops on topics of their choice from the curriculum.

The practicum not only reinforces participants’ learning and supports their professional growth, but also extends the impact of the program by sharing its knowledge and practices with educators who are not direct participants.

The Role of Mentors

Mentors provide individualized guidance and support throughout the course, helping participants enhance their learning experience through regular communication, feedback, and assistance with the practicum component.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the structure of emotional intelligence and apply its principles in teaching practice.
  • Recognize the signs of professional burnout and implement effective prevention strategies.
  • Apply self-regulation techniques and resource recovery strategies to maintain professional well-being.
  • Establish and maintain healthy personal boundaries in professional interactions.
  • Provide emotional support to students while maintaining their own resilience.
  • Use teaching approaches that consider the developmental and emotional needs of college students.
  • Create emotionally safe learning environments that foster student motivation through recognition, encouragement, and support.
  • Contribute to a culture of mutual support and professional collaboration within their institutions.
  • Design and deliver learning activities using emotionally intelligent teaching approaches.
  • Promote resilience, emotional leadership, and sustainable educational practices within their colleges.
