Aim of the Programme. The programme is designed to engage and empower young female learners from TVET institutions who are interested in building a career in the IT field. The focus of the programme is self-development where young female learners, through learning professional, social and psychological skills, can work on their self-esteem and self-confidence. 

Target Group. The course is tailored for beginners in the IT field, focusing on students of TVET with little or no prior experience, aged between 16 and 21 in Almaty. The target audience should have a genuine interest in learning the basics of IT and web development, including fundamental skills like CSS, HTML, Java, and other relevant technologies.

Structure and curriculum of the Programme

Duration of the program: 9 months 

Modules: 

  1. Introduction to Web Development (20 hrs)
  2. Front-End Development Tools and Techniques (24 hrs)
  3. JavaScript and Programming Basics (32 hrs)
  4. Working with the Document Object Model (DOM) and Asynchronous Programming (40 hrs)
  5. Self-esteem (10 hrs)
  6. Motivation and Responsibility (8 hrs)
  7. Goal-setting (8 hrs)
  8. Critical Thinking (8 hrs)
  9. Effective Communication (10 hrs)
  10. Emotional Intelligence (8 hrs) 

Role of the mentors: Mentors contribute to the program by offering individualized assistance to students, fostering improved learning outcomes through personal communication.

Final project: The final project is designed to offer a hands-on opportunity for beginners to apply their newly acquired knowledge, skills, and creativity. 

Programme Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop and demonstrate a basic understanding of the IT field, including its various domains, trends, challenges, and career opportunities.;
  2. Develop and demonstrate proficiency in front-end development, including HTML, CSS, and other relevant technologies, to empower girls with the skills needed for web development; 
  3. Develop and apply adaptability and problem-solving abilities to handle challenging situations, resolve conflicts, and make quick decisions in the IT industry;
  4. Develop and demonstrate self-awareness and self-regulation through recognizing and managing personal traits – strengths, weaknesses, emotions, and desires;
  5. Develop and demonstrate confidence in one’s abilities, ideas, and decision-making skills and overcome self-doubt and develop a positive self-image;
  6. Develop and apply teamwork, self-presentation, public speaking, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in IT projects;
  7. Apply logical reasoning and critical thinking skills to make informed decisions;
  8. Develop and apply resilience skills to adjust to changing environments and overcome obstacles; 
  9. Develop and apply a growth mindset and embrace continuous learning;
