Aim of the project. The main objective of the “MAYAK PRO”  program is to develop and strengthen effective mentoring skills among university teachers through providing them with trainings and applying their skills in mentoring partnership with TVET teachers. This includes improving their skills in communication, support, listening, empathy and giving quality feedback that will help them in developing the quality to lead effectively and apply what they have learned in mentoring sessions for professionals with experience in secondary institutions.

Target Group. The target audience of the project “MAYAK PRO” are professionals from higher educational institutions, professors, teachers, lectors, personal development coaches, who are ready to provide mentees with the opportunity to fully realize their potential both in their career aspirations and in their personal lives by creating trusting relationships. This year we want to attract 30 participants.

Who are the mentees of the “MAYAK PRO” participants? “MAYAK PRO” participants will mentor TVET teachers, providing them with support in their professional and personal growth.

“MAYAK PRO” mentors are required to meet weekly online or offline with mentees and support them during two final training sessions for TVET teachers. They evaluate the mentees’ performance, provide feedback and participate in the project in Russian or Kazakh.

Learning outcomes.

  1. Understand the role of mentoring as an effective tool in assisting the professional and personal development of the mentee/TVET teacher. 
  2. Apply tools to recognize the mentee’s/TVET teacher’s mindset and develop the ability to establish a trusting and harmonious relationship with TVET teachers.
  3. Develop and apply active listening and empathy skills to better understand and respond to the needs and concerns of the mentee/TVET teacher.
  4. Adopt a continuous learning approach. Recognize that mentoring is a dynamic and evolving process.
  5. Master and apply methods of providing constructive feedback in a positive and supportive manner, emphasizing growth and improvement.
  6. Accompany the mentee in building professional acquaintances and networking with experts in their industry, which may be beneficial for future career opportunities.
  7. Facilitate the mentee’s personal and professional growth and increase their confidence in overcoming challenges in their personal and career paths.
  8. To initiate and encourage collaborative research and project work between mentor and mentee, to facilitate the application of theoretical knowledge into practice.
  9. Develop mentees’ ability to think innovatively and creatively in their chosen professional fields. 
  10. Develop a long-term professional relationship between mentor and mentee that extends beyond the mentoring period.
